There is really no way to prepare to take your son to the MTC. We have known this day would come for 19 years, but we still were not ready to say goodbye. On Tuesday evening, Nate's friends came over to spend some time before he was set apart as a full-time missionary by our stake president. We spent Wednesday morning visiting and making final preparations. Nate wanted to eat at Sizzler on the way to the MTC -- they offer a free meal to all missionaries entering the MTC. After an enjoyable lunch, we drove to the MTC where we pulled into the parking lot across the street to give our final hugs. After hugs and pictures, we drove across the street where several missionaries guided us to the curb. One missionary quickly stepped forward, took one of Nate's suitcases, and Nate took the other. After a very brief hug, he was whisked away. Nate was so excited, and all smiles. The rest of us were in tears - but having Nathan so happy made it much easier. We miss him already - but wouldn't have him anywhere else.Here is Nate's MTC address:
